After records are taken, careful treatment planning is done and detailed discussions will be held to look at personalised treatment options. Once it has been determined that implant treatment is suitable for you and you would like to go ahead with the treatment, our friendly staff will organise treatment appointment for the implant to be placed.
Implant placement is usually done under local anaesthetic at the practice or may be done with sedation or under general anaesthetic depending on what is required and has been agreed upon.
In some cases a second stage surgery may be needed to uncover the implant placed in the gums.
Depending on your personalised treatment plan, bone/gum/sinus graft surgery may need to be done either prior to/at the time or after implant placement.
When teeth have been lost the supporting bone and gums can diminish over time and the sinus can occupy the bone volume depending on each individual.
In such cases the appropriate bone/gum/sinus grafts will be needed.
The timing of surgery/type of graft and healing times vary with each individual case and will be discussed with you at the time of treatment planning.
A full arch prosthesis is one where all the teeth in each jaw have been lost or need replacing and they can be replaced with four to six implants in the jaw.
An appropriate prosthesis is then attached to the implants.
If you have multiple crumbling/decayed/missing or loose teeth, speak to us to see if this might be the better option for you.
If you have lost most of your teeth and are looking at getting full mouth prosthesis we can organise to do full arch prosthesis after suitable consult and scans. These treatments involve a lot of planning and usually you can have your teeth within the first few days after surgery. These treatments are expensive but can be life changing.
Once the crown/bridge/denture has been placed it can be looked after like your normal teeth. Appropriate maintenance instructions will be tailored to your individual situation.
Regular follow up visits and routine check and maintenance are essential to help with the long term success of your teeth.
